Rohin!

Rohin! Posted by Hello

Unfortunately, Rohin will not be able to attend the reunion in New York. Nevertheless, he acquiesced to being the spotlight of our blog post today, so here's a little about Rohin.

Rohin is in Bangalore at the moment, where he has been living for the last year and a half. He's currently in "Course Development," which involves putting together materials on recruiting and training for call centers. He notes, "If any of you have come anywhere near this, you'll understand the pain!"

Rohin had been planning a visit to Kodai, but ultimately decided not to go because he had neither (1) the time, (2) inclination, and (3) company. So, if any of you are planning a trip to Kodai, get in touch with Rohin, and solve problems (2) and (3) for him! He has a request, though: If anyone has been to Kodai recently, then let him know if it's changed, and, if so, how much (or how badly!). Well, the Reunion Committee is going to bandwagon on to Rohin's request. We'd like to hear news about Kodai as well, so send your stories in to Kodai_98@yahoo.com.

When asked if there's anything about Rohin that the Class of 1998 would find surprising, he writes, "Oh, I quit smoking and drinking (and everything else . . . hehehe), and it's been about two years now. Big shit no, chief?" That's definitely quite a change, Rohin!

Neethu!

Alas! We don't have a picture of Neethu. Neethu, the fifth and last member of the Reunion Committee, managed to escape the clutches of our digital camera by moving from New York to South Africa. Always persistent, however, we've decided to do a write-up of her, even if you don't get to see a recent picture of her!

Much is new in Neethu's life. First of all, as just noted, Neethu left New York to move to South Africa to live with her parents. Morgan Stanley valued her so much that they offered to keep her job going even with the relocation! Neethu has been working from home ever since.

Neethu plans on staying in South Africa until the end of this year, at which point she and Udit are getting married. Yes, folks, it's true, these two high school sweethearts are currently engaged! We at the Reunion Committee wish them the very best.

Send Us Your Picture

Here at the Reunion Committee Headquarters, we're eager to hear from both those who are attending as well as those who are not. Yes, we're just eager to get in touch with you. Over the next few weeks leading up to the reunion, we'll be posting pictures and write-ups of people who have graciously acquiesced to being on our blog! We hope that (1) you'll visit our site often to see updates, and (2) you'll submit a picture and write-up for the blog!

A little about Lauren

Lauren! Posted by Hello

Lauren will be attending the reunion, most likely along with her significant other. Lauren believes that people will be most surprised to learn that she is working as a Legal Assistant at a Real Estate Developer Legal Firm in Atlanta, GA. When she was in Kodai, she had thought that she was going to be a counselor, but after an internship in college, she realized that this was not her calling! She had never thought that she would work in a law office, but so far, her job has worked out very well. She says, "I am learning a lot of skills that I know will be very helpful later in life." She also notes that she had always wanted to work in an office environment, so that part of her dream has come true since Kodai.

On a more nostalgic note, Lauren says what she most misses about Kodai is the people and the sense of community that we all shared. She misses walking through the school and town knowing everyone, and everyone knowing her and her family. She also misses the beautiful mountains and scenery in Kodai.

Trains, Planes and Automobiles

It's getting to the point where you should be scouring the web for great deals to New York. Luckily, there are a plethora of ways to get here, and hopefully some of them will be affordable enough for you to make it!
Some things to keep in mind if you haven't been to New York before.

PLANES:
There are 3 airports in the area --
John F. Kennedy Airport (Airport Code: JFK), http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/jfkframe.HTM

LaGuardia Airport (Airport Code: LGA),
http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/lgaframe.HTM

Newark Airport (Airport Code: EWR),

Or you can just use NYC as your generic airport code to get all the aiports included in your search.

TRAINS:
The main train station is New York Penn Station,

Who Makes Up the Reunion Committee?

We've been signing our emails as The Reunion Committee, so we figured it's time you saw who we are. Forgive the different picture sizes (we're new to this blogging/ photo software, and cropping and sizing is more than we can handle right now). Below are 4 members of the Reunion Committee: Anjali, Dipti, Shankar and Viren. Our fifth member, Neethu, is stationed out in South Africa at the moment, scouring for Kodai-ites out there. We're going to get a picture of her up on this site as soon as we can.

Send us your picture and a caption telling us what you're doing!

Shankar! Shankar will be finishing up the end of his post-Bacc, pre-med degree in May. After this? Med School! Posted by Hello

Anjali! Anjali will be finishing up her degree in graphic design in May.  Posted by Hello

Viren! Posted by Hello

New York awaits you! Posted by Hello

Why Blog?

So, we figured we needed a simple way to keep you all posted on reunion developments. While we were the Class of 1998, located at the tail end of the 20th Century, we figured we needed something more hip, more 21st Century-like, to get you guys interested.

Hence the blog.

We're going to make this site as user friendly as possible. You all should feel free to use the comments section to let us know if we can make any improvements.

Welcome

We're so excited you found our site. The Reunion Committee (Anjali, Dipti, Neethu, Shankar and Viren) are busy planning the Kodai Class of 1998 Reunion, scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend (May 28 through May 30) in New York City! To help keep you appraised off our plans, we've created this blog!
Please check back frequently because we'll be updating often.
